There’s nothing wrong with wanting your bridal party to look coordinated, but because all your girls have unique shapes and styles, why not pick a color and fabric and have them choose the rest? Want to be the most beloved bride ever? Pick basic black.

Wearability

No matter how cute the outfit — once it’s called a bridesmaid dress and she’s wearing it next to 11 other girls, chances are she won’t be too excited to put it on again. But there is hope — by adding ruffle trims and floral embellishments, varied hemlines, and flattering necklines, designers are making bridesmaid dresses feel more like sophisticated eveningwear that would never be pegged as a multiple.

Mucho Metals

Rather than asking your girls to buy matching celadon green wedges, these days formal footwear is all about silver and gold. Metallic accessories were hot on ready-to-wear runways this year and that look has trickled down to bridesmaid fashion as well — and they’ll work with just about any color and look you’ve picked for your maids.

Mix and Matched Bling

Let your girls choose their jewelry. You can and should suggest the type of jewelry you’d like to see them wear (pearls, silver, or gold) but allow them to pick from their own closets when it comes to the particulars. Chances are, your pictures won’t pick up the difference in their jewels, and they’ll feel more comfortable in baubles they already know and love.

Petals in Your Palette

Consider having each maid carry a bouquet of different blooms, all within your wedding colors. So if your colors are pink and green, one girl could hold a bouquet of pale pink roses, another of fuchsia peonies, and another of green hydrangeas. Your bouquet could then consist of one or two flowers from each of theirs, bringing the look together.

We know the holidays are a busy time of year, but it’s important not to let your wedding plans get sidelined this time of year! For you brides that dream of a summer wedding, the holidays are prime-planning time. Especially when it comes to your dream gown, you want to make sure you shop early enough to perfect your look! Most designers require up to 6 months to create and ship your dress, plus you’ll need to allow 1-2 months for any alterations. Your wedding gown should be one of the first things you shop for after your engagement, and the staff here at Etain would be delighted to help you find “the one”!

It’s an ordinary brown box that came on an ordinary day. Yet, as we open this box and examine the gorgeous wedding gown inside, we realize, “Wait, we haven’t sold this dress!?!”  Maybe it was a lost gown on its way to another lucky bridal shop.  Then we imagine the worst, Oh no, we ordered the wrong dress for a bride! Frantically, we examine the receipt; not finding a bride’s name we call Mia, our rep from Essense of Australia. We are completely in shock as we hear the words on the other end of the line, “That’s just a thank you gift from us to you, Thank You for hosting such a great Trunk Show!” We are completely stunned! A free gown!!! Thank you Mia… Thank you for this amazing Essense of Australia gown… Thank you for making us feel so special!

Not sure where to begin, what to do, or when to do it?? Well don’t let time run out on you!

We’re here to help… Our hope is that all of our brides will allow ample time to plan as much in advance as possible. This way, the process is much easier and your big day will be everything you’ve dreamt it could be. So to help you prepare, we have put together a checklist to help you manage all of YOUR important details – from head to toe. This will help to ensure that you have even the smallest details ready for your wedding day.

In the last few months of planning, the time to order these items will be nearing its end!

Brides, here’s your checklist:

□   Wedding dress – Ladies, start with the dress. Trust us! Standard ordering times can range anywhere from 4-6 months for wedding gowns. Make sure to schedule an appointment and bring your close family and/or friends to help you decide on the dress. The sooner you start looking, the sooner you’ll find the perfect dress and it can be on its way. Once the gown arrives at the store, you will need to set up your first fitting at least 1-2 months out to allow enough time for alterations to be completed.  A second (and hopefully final) fitting about a month to two weeks out will confirm a perfect fit! We do have a very talented seamstress that can work closely with you on alterations. She specializes in bridal and formal and has done amazing work for many weddings. She can even meet you here at Etain to simplify things.

□   Veil – Whether you want cathedral length, fingertip or a vintage birdcage, the choices are endless! We have two designers we order from: Sara Gabriel and Mariell. These can be ordered when you purchase the gown, or anywhere from 4 months – 3 weeks out.

□   Headpiece/Tiara – From a glitzy princess tiara to a simple, elegant flower; make sure your headpiece shows your personality and theme. We also order these from the Sara Gabriel and Mariell lines.

□   Belt, Sash or Brooch – Want to add the finishing touches to your wedding gown? You can add some color or bling with a belt, or add some personality with a rhinestone, pearl, or stone brooch. All it takes is a little something to make your gown your very own custom design. Don’t wait until the last minute for this either… Ordering times can range anywhere from 12 weeks to 3 weeks, depending on the item.

□   Shoes – You can go traditional white or ivory, or you can be bold and choose your favorite color! It’s always best to have your shoes for your first fitting to truly know what length your dress will need to be. Etain is an authorized carrier for the PINK Paradox bridal shoe collection. The colors and styles are sassy, simple and stunning! Ordering time is anywhere from 5 days to 3 weeks for custom dye.

□   Shawl/Wrap/Jacket – With afternoon and evening weddings on the rise, it tends to get chilly nearing the end of your event. Even if it’s only to get from the reception site to your hotel room, a complementing shawl or wrap is always a nice touch for your exit photos.

□   Handbag – Every bride loves to touch up her lipstick or powder throughout the evening. Why not have a classy bridal purse to carry your necessities without taking away from your gorgeous look!

Ready? Set. Wed!

This past weekend many of our brides were ready to get hitched! Etain Bridal Boutique hosted an exclusive trunk show for Essense of Australia wedding dresses. Essense sent Mia, one of the sales representatives from the company, for the weekend along with tons of new wedding gowns to be previewed that weekend only. Their newest line was here, before it arrives at stores in March 2012. We had the latest and trendiest styles in our store! Brides were delighted to find their gown at the event and at such a discounted price!
